IUPUI Multidisiplinary Undergraduate Research InstitutesPlease note that the web sites for the Center for Research and Learning and its programs are being renovated and will be unavailable until January 4, 2007. The MURI program web site in the School of Engineering and Technology is in a temporary location until that time. The UROP web site is still available. Apply now for an IUPUI MURI Grant! (Go to the RFP)Deadlines: Spring Semester ~ January 2, 2007 Summer Applications welcome now until March 1, 2008 The IUPUI Center for Research and Learning (http://www.crl.iupui.edu) and the School of Engineering and Technology MURI Program are establishing a new campus-wide MURI program, the IUPUI MURI MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, open to all disciplines, to begin in Spring Semester 2008. This new program will fund several inter/multidisciplinary undergraduate research projects (IUPUI MURI projects) under the leadership of faculty members in any discipline, in any undergraduate, graduate, or professional school or unit on the IUPUI campus. The IUPUI MURI Mentorship Program is an extension of the original MURI Program (http://www.urop.iupui.edu/MURI/muri.html) housed in the School of Engineering and Technology. Applications are sought from all IUPUI faculty and researchers who are interested in mentoring undergraduates to conduct inter/multidisciplinary research in teams of at least two students studying in different disciplines. Students or student groups may submit proposals through a faculty member or researcher who agrees to sponsor the research. This is a unique opportunity provided to IUPUI faculty and researchers for mentoring students while earning research funds and conducting pilot projects. The deadline for proposal submission is December 28, 2007 the Spring Semester and March 1, 2008 for the summer. The IUPUI MURI Selection Committee will review the submitted proposals. Winning proposals for the spring will be announced by January 11, 2008 and the students will be asked to apply by January 31, 2008. IUPUI MURI Block Grants for Undergraduate Research in Small Groups and in the ClassroomProfessors and researchers teaching regular classes or working with small groups of students on special projects, usually within a single discipline, can use the IUPUI MURI program to involve students in research. “Small groups” for this program are groups usually larger than five students. Five students or less will be considered within the regular IUPUI MURI guidelines and not funded as block grants. See the facts about block grants.
